Identity Verification (KYC) – Frequently Asked Questions
Last Updated: 23 March 2026
This FAQ explains our identity verification process for certain hosting services provided via our StackCP hosting platform. Verification is a security and abuse-prevention measure designed to protect our network, infrastructure, and legitimate customers.
xHosts UK is operated as a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. Throughout this document we may refer to ourselves as "xHosts", "xHosts UK", or "the Provider".
Why are you introducing identity verification?
Due to increased abuse and fraudulent activity across the hosting industry, xHosts UK may require identity verification for certain hosting services. This helps protect our platform, maintain network reliability, and prevent abuse such as phishing hosting, malware distribution, spam operations, and fraudulent activity.
Identity verification is a standard security measure used across many online platforms and hosting providers to reduce fraud and maintain service integrity.
Who does this apply to?
Identity verification may be required for certain hosting accounts based on internal security checks, platform risk indicators, fraud prevention measures, or abuse-prevention policies.
Not all accounts are required to verify immediately. If verification is required for your account, you will receive an email notification with instructions and a reasonable timeframe to complete the process.
Is this because of something I did?
No. Verification requirements are part of our general security and abuse-prevention systems and are not necessarily related to any specific activity on your account.
Many platforms introduce identity verification as part of wider security improvements.
Who processes the verification?
Identity verification is performed by a trusted third-party verification provider, including Stripe Identity.
Using a specialised verification provider allows identity checks to be performed securely without requiring xHosts UK to collect or store sensitive identity documents.
Does xHosts UK store my ID or personal documents?
No. xHosts UK does not receive, store, download, or retain copies of identity documents or biometric data.
Identity verification is performed by our third-party verification provider, including Stripe Identity. While the verification platform may technically allow identity documents to be viewed or downloaded within the provider’s system, xHosts UK does not access, view, or download these documents.
xHosts UK only receives a verification result, such as "verified" or "unverified", along with limited reference identifiers required for security, compliance, and audit purposes.
This approach follows a data-minimisation model, meaning xHosts UK avoids collecting or storing sensitive identity documents wherever possible.
What information may be required to complete verification?
Depending on the verification process, you may be asked to provide a government-issued photo ID (such as a passport, driving licence, or national identity card) and complete a brief liveness/selfie check.
The exact verification steps will be shown during the verification process.
How long do I have to complete verification?
If verification is required for your account, you will be given a clear timeframe in the verification email notification.
In most cases, customers are given 7–10 days to complete the verification process.
How do I complete verification?
If verification is required, you will receive an email containing a secure verification link with instructions.
Simply follow the instructions in that email to complete the verification process.
If you cannot find the email, please contact support through the client portal and we can re-send the verification request during the active verification period.
What happens if I do not complete verification?
If required verification is not completed within the provided timeframe, the hosting service may be temporarily suspended in accordance with our Terms of Service.
Suspension is usually reversible during the active verification period, and services are normally restored once verification is successfully completed within the timeframe provided.
Please note that identity verification must be completed within the specified verification window. Once this period has closed, verification is no longer available and suspended services will proceed towards termination in accordance with our Terms of Service.
Will my service be deleted if I do not verify?
No. Services are not deleted simply for failing to complete verification.
However, services that remain suspended and inactive for an extended period may be terminated as part of routine account housekeeping or inactivity policies.
If my service is subscription-based, can I cancel instead of verifying?
Yes. If your service is subscription-based and you do not wish to complete identity verification, you may request cancellation through the client portal.
Your service will remain active until the end of the current billing period in accordance with our cancellation policy.
Can I transfer my hosting service to someone else instead?
Changing service ownership or transferring an account does not bypass identity verification requirements.
If ownership is changed, the new account holder may also be required to complete identity verification before the service can continue.
